Project Description Region: Africa Country: Uganda Location: Agago District Total Budget: $75,000 Areas of Focus: Disease prevention and treatment, Community economic development The 12-month project will support mental health in Agago District and offer a livelihood project for the community of Agago District. The objectives include training 40 additional mental health personnel, conducting at least 15,000 counseling sessions, informing and educating nearly 50,000 community members about mental health, and equipping 60 women with the skills to monetize their services and goods. The main project activities involve training additional community mental health workers, offering monthly booster training workshops, providing ongoing counseling, and providing education and information for mental health awareness. The secondary project activities involve the implementation of a program focused on saving, banking, and business tools. A community assessment was conducted in-country by a Rotary Community Corp. Club members are in the community to monitor activities and audit results. Due to COVID-19, Kampala and Denver Mile High Rotarians are not allowed in the area. Rotary Club of Kitgum is in the area and participating in the project.
