Project Description

Region: South-East Asia

Country: Philippines

Location: Guiguinto

Total Budget: $32,100

Areas of Focus: Disease prevention and treatment, Maternal and child health

The Municipality of Guiguinto in the province of Bulacan is a small progressive municipality. It has 14 barangays which were divided into urban and rural areas with 110,400 population. The Municipal Mayor is a Rotarian himself, so the development of Guiguinto is his primary goal with the help of other Rotary Clubs in the municipality.

Since Guiguinto has 2 strategic areas, there were 2 Health Centers that provide health services among people, in the urban area and in the rural areas. However, though prevention and health services are being provided still there are beneficiaries of which because of their residences quite far from the Health Centers, they cannot assess the health benefits they can get from the centers.

And with the pandemic health crisis, we have, and when all places with high cases of Covid were lockdown, people who need immediate health attention may not be given proper health care because no one is allowed to be going out of their houses and transportations were stop.

With the health scenario in the municipality, the Rotary Club of Guiguinto Premier had planned through the Rotary Foundation to seek help from other Rotarians who can provide access to health care services which at this pandemic time, health services that can be directly transported at their locations, and a mobile clinic with equipment and apparatus inside can serve the indigent, homeless, disabled and elderly patients.

If the club can accomplish such a project and people over Guiguinto can be given immediate attention, the nearby municipalities can also be served by the mobile clinic, the municipalities of Balagtas, Bulakan, Plaridel, and even Malolos.

The mobile clinic will help people from traveling to the health centers and shall be able to save money instead. The time is manageable since they will be given the time schedule of the coming of the mobile clinic in their places.

If the goal of Rotary is to serve people, this mobile clinic is at its right time especially with the health crisis we are now experiencing. This project will definitely help thousands of indigent populations in Guiguinto and the nearby municipalities.

Alongside the pandemic crisis, health problems in nutrition, maternity health monitoring, children's diseases, those with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), severe mental illness and tuberculosis are the premier health problems of the municipality which the mobile clinic will greatly enhance the health services, and also provide access to Department of Health Expanded Program on Immunization ( Mobile Immunization)
