Lack of skills training and empowerment opportunities among these widows is a common issue. Often due to social norms and financial crisis, they are unable to undertake vocational and skill training. This condition necessitated the Rotary Club of Akure proposed project and involvement. Poor widows sometime depends on traditional works like housekeeping, collecting fodder and fuel wood, arms begging, causal labor but it produce poor earning which is not sufficient to take good care of the family members. This impact on the health of the widows and their children as well as school activities of their children. However, due to lack of vocational training facilities and awareness, poor widows never offered these techniques to create their own micro enterprise in a profitable manner. This programme aims at directly involve in vocational and skill development and will be targeting the extremely poor widows in the community.
EXPECTED IMPACT
1. The widows would be trained and empowered with tools for income generation.
2. The widows would be engaged in income generation activities after the completion of the training.
3.The living standard of the peoples will improve. Economic activities will rise in the targeted community.
4.The trained and empowered poor widows would get opportunity of income generation to sustain their immediate family livelihood
5.The programme will be given good publicity in the community to encourage other poor widows to get train and reduce more dependence on everyone in the community.
