Rotary Club of Lahore Garrison (D3272, Pakistan) proposes to provide solar power solution to Aabroo Schools Complex, Kamahan, Lahore, Pakistan. This will save students from frequent power outages and will provide regular electricity supply for lights and fans. It will also help Aabroo in monthly saving from payment of high electricity bills. This money can be used for providing other services to the students.
Rotary Club of Lahore Garrison has been very active in doing Matching Grants in the past and has also received funds from Rotary International in Great Britain & Ireland (RIBI).
Aabroo Educational Welfare Organization (AEWO), an NGO providing free education to more than 4,500 children currently studying in eight schools run by the Organization. Aabroo is also responsible for the provision of free books, stationary and uniforms as well as lunch and milk to younger children and the students. Aabroo collects used items and recyclable waste from more than 7,500 houses and offices all over Lahore. This leads to the generation of funds required by Aabroo to partially support their cause. This waste collection idea was suggested by Ms Eliane Provate, a Teacher Trainer from Brazil, who came to Pakistan on joint invitation from Rotary Club of Lahore Garrison (D3272, Pakistan) and Rotary Club of Glenville (D7190, USA).
