The Women's Association for Education and Fight Against Cancer (AFECC) is a non-profit Civil Society, founded on 04/28/1952. Its mission is to educate, prevent, diagnose, treat, rehabilitate, provide integrated social assistance and reintegrate cancer patients into the community.

AFECC built the Hospital Santa Rita de Cássia (HSRC), inaugurated on 31/03/1970, with the purpose of providing social, medical and hospital assistance to cancer patients. It is the hospital of Espírito Santo reference and specialized in prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer. It offers qualified treatment and care, integrating professionals from the medical, care, support and volunteerareas, providing complete care to patients during treatment. It is the only institution in the State that provides care with this amplitude, providing patients with greater and better recovery conditions.

In 2019, AFECC-HSRC performed 630,501,000 visits, of which 76.63% were allocated to patients in the Unified Health System (SUS),

The Unified Health System (SUS) is the Public Health System of Brazil.

Cancer is a challenge for public health, not only in Brazil, but also in the world. According to the World Health Organization (WHO) 27 million new cases of cancer are expected by 2030, reaching 17 million deaths.

Civil Society is responsible for paying attention to various problem-solving strategies, such as underfunding of health (lack of resources).

Thus, Philanthropic Hospitals assume 60% of high complexity care, such as cancer treatment

Our highest incidence of cancer in women are the initial cases of breast cancer and in men prostate cancer. In 2019 we already have 628 new confirmed cases of Breast cancer, 566 new confirmed cases of Prostate cancer and 298 cases of Head and Neck cancer. This substantially reduces immunity, thus favoring virus contamination, such as Covid/19.

We who are volunteers of the Hospital, research and conclude that the purchase of these materials will have faster diagnosis and consequently reduce the rate of deaths.

Breast Biopsy Pistol 04 3,700.00 14,800.00

Prostate Biopsy Pistol 03 5,076.00 15,228.00

Breast Biopsy Needle 14GA X 10CM 100 64.80 6,480.00

Prostate Biopsy Needle 18GA X 25CM 120 64.80 7,776.00

Portable Ultrasound Device (Average Price) 01 90,000.00 90,000.00

General Total 134,284.00 / US$30,600.00

Every day, the Outpatient Units related to oncology, perform on average 2,300 visits, offering the best cancer treatment to all people who arrive at Afecc - HSRC, as well as full assistance so that the patient has full conditions of carry out the treatment

WHO MADE THE EVALUATION:

• Employees (Doctors, Analysts and Managers) of AFECC

Group of Rotarians: Gilberto Neves Sudre (Governor 2004/2005 D4410), Heloisa Sudre (President of the House of Friendship of Vitoria ES) Roberto Gonçalves (Member of the Rotary Club of Vitoria Mata da Praia) The main objective of this project is to ensure access to a safe and quality diagnosis and treatment for SUS patients, enabling the detection of cancer in its initial phase.

Thus, the pistols and needles will be used to perform breast and prostate biopsies, since it is our highest incidence of cancer. As we have an experienced medical team and structure, these procedures will be performed on an outpatient basis. With this, there is optimization of beds for other patients who depend on hospital support to perform other procedures.
