The childbirth of premature babies has increased. What is serious here is that premature babies have mostly died from lack of care services for not having incubators, mostly cases. In Peru, there are few hospitals with comprehensive services to care for premature neonatal intensive and intermediate care.
In the last two years are making efforts to implement NICU in the two main public hospitals in Arequipa, the Honorio Delgado Espinoza Hospital and Goyeneche Hospital, but are insufficient for the number of births attended. A fluctuation of births not anticipated generate care crisis due to lack of equipment such as neonatal incubators.
Arequipa's Health Regional Administration has reported the need of 6 incubators : 02 for NICU, 03 Standard and 01 for transportation equipment requested donation to Rotary International, through the Rotary Club Rijchary Arequipa.
