The Objective of this project is the purchase of surgical microscope, an item the assisted organization does not have, that will improve the quality of surgeries in regular and emergency situations.
By purchasing this equipment, Santa Casa of Vinhedo will be able to perform specific kinds of surgeries that at present date it cannot be done, due to the lack of this equipment at their disposal. Currently, patients that need these kinds of surgeries are sent to other Hospitals in the region (Campinas, Jundiaí, Itatiba) after their cases being analyzed by CROSS - Health Service Offering Regulation Center. The situation is worse to the patients from the public system because they depend on vacancy in these other Hospitals. If Santa Casa has surgical microscope at their disposal, patients would have more options and places to use, including Santa Casa.
Not only the citizens of Vinhedo will gain from this purchase, neighboring citizens would gain too, cities like Valinhos, Louveira and some other more. Looking at the numbers, Vinhedo has around 75.000 citizens, Valinhos has around 150.000 citizens and Louveira has around 45.000 citizens, making a total of 270.000 people.
Besides the help provided to these people, Santa casa will also gain financially. These new surgeries will allow Santa Casa to receive financial resources from the surgeries. This new income will improve the financial health of the Hospital making in a long-term a sustainable project. The forecast is that the value received by the Hospital with the equipment in hands is 3x bigger than with no equipment at all.
Currently, the surgeries that cannot be done due to the lack of this equipment are: spinal tumor microsurgery, intracranial tumor microsurgery, microsurgery for minor posterior circulation aneurysm and many more.
Note: as of July 1, 2015 there is a 5% additional support fee for cash contributions. This fee does not appear in the financials above because it does not apply if the funds are sent directly to the project account (without going through TRF, and therefore without Paul Harris credit). Clubs sending their cash contribution to TRF must be aware they will have to send an additional 5%.
