Project Description Region: South America Country: Brazil Location: Curitiba Total Budget: $60,000 Area of Focus: Maternal and child health The hospital trabalhador in Curitiba-Parana-Brazil, is a public hospital, has been constructed a new area specialized in taking care of women and newborns. For that reason it is necessary to establish a Human Milk Bank. This hospital use to attend 250 deliverys, 80 cesarians and 1.600 obstétrics apointments each month, rate of premature newborn is up to 12%. This newborn are of hight risk ,been necessary to be mainteined in CUI. Its absolutly necessary the maternal milk feeding to obtain gain of weight and for the prevention of entercolitis necrotizant and of course dead.
