NEEDS:
Housing: While studying in London our student will need living accomodations. Regardless of whether she is on or off campus, housing is between $6,500 and $7,500 per semester, Single and multi student dwellings are available. Wi-Fi and utilities are typically included in those room costs. The London School of Economics and Political Science website offers a large variety of rooms and apartments both on and off campus, for international students and housing assistance is available.
Tuition: Her largest expense will be tuition as an international student. Cambridge has offered financial assistance to her and she expects to know that amount in early March. She has applied for other scholarships and plans to meet her financial responsibilities through those scholarships as well as family funding.
Travel: Travel to and from the US is not a factor as her father is an airline pilot and she can travel under that benefit.
Total funding for one year at Cambridge is approximately $60,000.
The cost of textbooks and public transportation have not yet been determined. She may need to travel to Europe for research assignments but that is outside the scope of this global grant. She will complete the budget calculator in the Global Grant (#
The Rotary Club of Denton is working with the Inbound Scholar Co-ordinator in District 1080 (London) to help us locate a Host club. Host clubs in this district are looking to have our scholar placed by April 30.
Rotary Club of Denton will assist both our scholar and any potential host clubs. We will be available for video conferencing with our scholar and are prepared to send all documentation to potential host clubs when requested to do so.
Moving forward, Rotary Club of Denton plans to meet our global scholar's family, to get to know them and let them know that we will be their conduit to the Rotary host club in London.
Certainly the more support our scholar knows she has both at home and abroad, the easier her transition to international studies will be, resulting in a successful experience
