To provide 305 homes(typically trailers or Hogans) with a 1,200 gallon below ground water tank, water pump, tankless water heater, solar panel, indoor sink, three led lights and a carbon monoxide alarm.
40% of residents on the Navajo Reservation do not have access to clean, running water or electricity. They may have to travel up to 100 miles to obtain clean water, bringing it home in buckets. As unemployment rates are often as high as 70%, many people have no vehicles to use.
Curt Ward of d5495 is writing the grant with the assistance of Marjorie Heller of d5280. There are currently 13 Districts that will be participating in this grant which includes 5 International partners.
Note: as of July 1, 2015 there is a 5% additional support fee for cash contributions. This fee does not appear in the financials above because it does not apply if the funds are sent directly to the project account (without going through TRF, and therefore without Paul Harris credit). Clubs sending their cash contribution to TRF must be aware they will have to send an additional 5%.
