Project Description

Region: South America

Country: Brazil

Location: Uberlândia

Total Budget: $41,250

Area of Focus: Community economic development

The Association of Recyclers and Waste Pickers of Uberlândia, MG,- ARCA; state- Brazil; consists of 19 members. They earn between R$ 750,00 and R$ 900,00 ($180.7 - $216.9) per month. The goal of this project is to help create measurable and lasting economic improvements; develop job opportunities; reduce poverty and create more job openings in the Street Collectors Association. This provides a sustainable source of income for street collectors through the purchase of equipment and devices that will allow greater outside collection of recyclable waste; pressing, cutting and packaging of recyclable materials such as plastic, paper, aluminum, and others. This machinery will enable the professional training of this public, for example, in the use of forklifts, through a course taught by sales of this equipment, in other companies, as a forklift operator, with better monthly salaries. The area of focus is community and economic and community development and the cost is estimated at $ 33,000. The purchase of these machinery will ensure greater productivity, capture and transformation of collected waste, recyclable materials valuable to the market, and urban cleaning, as well as better direct marketing power in industries.

Note: as of July 1, 2015 there is a 5% additional support fee for cash contributions. Clubs sending their cash contribution to TRF must be aware they will have to send an additional 5%.
