Provide Kidney Dialysis machines to hospitals in Kerala, India. Patients suffering from kidney related diseases will be the main beneficiaries. Besides, due to the high incidence of diabetes in the state of Kerala, a detailed program to educate and to build up awareness among patients and potential patients will to a great extent help contain kidney related diseases.
A detailed study on the incidence of the disease in Kerala , its impact on the community and the medical facilities currently available in Kerala has been done. This has been gleaned from various data available with IMA, hospitals and news papers. A copy of the same is appended as Annexure I
The project involves providing nine kidney dialysis machines to hospitals in Kerala, India; and providing ongoing education to reduce the incidence of kidney related diseases. The high incidence of diabetes and kidney related diseases in the state of Kerala has received international attention (see Krishnakumar, P. K.; Sanandakumar, S. (23 April 2016). There is a great need for treatment and prevention.
Patients suffering from kidney related diseases will be the main beneficiaries of the nine proposed dialysis machines. In addition, a detailed program of education and prevention will increase awareness among residents of the state to reduce incidence of future kidney related diseases.
The hospitals and medical personnel involved have agreed to operate and maintain the machines, as well as provide ongoing training and education for local residents in the concerned geographical area.
Above all, a certain number of dialyses will be done free of cost to deserving patients below the poverty line(BPL). Agreements have been finalized with the concerned hospitals and the same will be incorporated in the Memorandum Of Understanding with the respective hospitals.
Note: as of July 1, 2015 there is a 5% additional support fee for cash contributions. This fee does not appear in the financials above because it does not apply if the funds are sent directly to the project account (without going through TRF, and therefore without Paul Harris credit). Clubs sending their cash contribution to TRF must be aware they will have to send an additional 5%.
