Cholera, Giardia, Hepatitis are all waterborne sources of sickness and death in a country like Haiti. The Schenectady Rotary club and other partner clubs in District 7190 have been working in Haiti for 20 years. We have delivered over 600 water filters to schools, orphanages and medical clinics... now we are upping the scale by installing a new water well, chlorination and holding facility and three distribution kiosks. When operational, it will serve the needs of 20,000+ residents in the very poor urban community of Matogou, a district of Carrefour just west of Port-au-Prince, the capital of Haiti and area devastated by the earthquake of 2010. We hope to drill the well, run the pipes and build the kiosks in the 2019-20 Rotary year... all we need now is partners to help us raise the balance of the moneys needed. Please consider helping us. Water is a necessary requirement of the dignity of human life and clean water allows us all to have hope for our tomorrows.
Note: as of July 1, 2015 there is a 5% additional support fee for cash contributions. This fee does not appear in the financials above because it does not apply if the funds are sent directly to the project account (without going through TRF, and therefore without Paul Harris credit). Clubs sending their cash contribution to TRF must be aware they will have to send an additional 5%.
