Project Description

Region: South America

Country: Brazil

Location: Itaperuna/RJ

Total Budget: $51,556

Area of Focus: Community economic development

The project "The Sun Rises for everyone" aims to bring the benefits of solar energy to people in socially vulnerable situations, maintained by the Our Lady of the Rosary of Fatima Cultural Center (CESC). It is a private non-profit philanthropic association that serves a needy population of approximately 300 people, housing 42 disabled adults in the Support House, aged 18 to 80 and the others at Santa Teresinha do Menino Jesus School, which offers: Kindergarten-Elementary School and Music School for young people. The institution is struggling to keep its commitments in view of the huge mandatory energy expenditures. The implementation of this project will reduce expenses by approximately 90%, ensuring the sustainability of CESC, the legal entity responsible for the use and maintenance of donated goods.

Note: as of July 1, 2015 there is a 5% additional support fee for cash contributions. This fee does not appear in the financials above because it does not apply if the funds are sent directly to the project account (without going through TRF, and therefore without Paul Harris credit). Clubs sending their cash contribution to TRF must be aware they will have to send an additional 5%.
