The project aims to provide permanent kiosks / shops to street vendors using material from plastic waste. It is proposed to build 50 such kiosks/shops for the street vendors in Jammu where they can transact daily business. Currently many street vendors are operating at road side in unhealthy conditions and creating disturbance to traffic and pedestrians.
About 600 kgs of plastic waste shall be used for each such kiosk, thereby resulting in usage of 30000 Kgs of plastic waste for this project which is otherwise creating nuisance to environment. This project shall be collaborated with City Municipal Corporation, State Government and National Urban Livelihood Mission (NULM), Govt of India for many more such projects in due course.
All the material used for the kiosk shall be with LDPE plastic, each panel consists of 70 % LDPE and 30 % Aluminium coated LDPE. This project will not only save the environment from the hazards of plastic waste but also provide employment to various volunteers as rag pickers.
This will also be a major branding project where Rotary Brand shall be visible at every such street vendor kiosk.
Total Cost of the project shall be 50 x 1,50,000.00 = INR 75,00,000.00 ( approx US $ 1,00,000)
