Dhaka Shishu Hospital (http://dhakashishuhospital.org.bd/)is one of the very few children hospitals in the country as well as the largest children hospital in Bangladesh having 650 beds. People who are in low income bracket, comes here from across the country to ensure better treatment in minimum cost.
Although, it is a Government supported tertiary level public hospital, government provides fund only for staffs (doctor, nurse & administrative stuffs) salary. Only 65% beds are being charged from patients and 35% percent of Hospital beds are nonpaying bed (It includes bed charge, medicine, and food for both baby and mother).
As it is in the center of the city, number of walk-in patient is very high and admission need exceeds the hospital's capacity.
