Areas of Focus: Disease prevention and treatment, Maternal and child health
This is a humanitarian project with focus being (a) disease prevention and treatment and (b) maternal and child health. The goal is to give the HPV vaccines to 500 girls in rural school just outside Pune, which will provide complete protection against cervical cancer for life. Two doses of the vaccine administered at a 6 to 12-month interval are enough to protect girls between 13 to 15 years of age. These shots being expensive are not part of the routine immunization vaccinations in India.
Note: as of July 1, 2015 there is a 5% additional support fee for cash contributions. This fee does not appear in the financials above because it does not apply if the funds are sent directly to the project account (without going through TRF, and therefore without Paul Harris credit). Clubs sending their cash contribution to TRF must be aware they will have to send an additional 5%.
