Project Description Region: Asia Country: India Location: Madurai Total Budget: $65,000 Areas of Focus: Water, sanitation and hygiene, Basic education and literacy NAME OF THE PROJECT Expansion of School building and provision of basic amenities PROJECT LOCATION Government High School,Tiruppalai,Madurai 625014 BRIEF PROJECT SUMMARY Government High School, Tiruppalai, a village hamlet near Madurai is catering to the educational needs of the community around.The school got upgraded from 8th Std to 10th Std . Presently 151 students and 11 teachers are functioning in the school with only 5 class rooms. With increasing student population, the school needs additional smart class rooms /Staff rooms and associated additional facilities towards better quality of education and water and sanitation. AREA OF FOCUS Basic Education and Literacy /Water and Sanitation PROJECT SUSTAINABILITY On completion of the project the facilities will be maintained by the School EXPECTED PROJECT IMPACT 1) Addition of 5 more class rooms would cater to more no of students and teachers and fulfill the needs of the community in getting quality education. Smart classes would ensure better education standards. 2) Creating improved facilities would result in recruiting quality teachers and sustain the growth of the school. 3) Providing clean water and sanitation facilities would improve the physical health of the student community. PROJECT LOCAL HOST CLUB Rotary Club of Madurai Star ROLE OF ROTARIAN To facilitate building construction and ensure project monitoring and completion with the procurement of quality materials of construction. Undertake the responsibility of training the staff and students in using the upgraded facilities.
