After surveys to identify deficiencies in the community, talking to people connected to the health area was noticed the delay for several tests to be performed. The public health system in Brazil is very inefficient and with the strong financial crisis that the country is going through, this has worsened.

The Basic Health Unit of Valentim Gentil has a demand for approximately 550 ultrasound examinations in several medical specialties, especially in the areas of orthopedics, gynecology / obstetrics and pediatrics.

These tests are sent to the Unified Health System (SUS) where, even in more urgent situations, patients wait between 90 and 180 days for care.

The objective of this project is to meet this demand and offer prompt care, reduce the time for diagnosis and treatment of diseases, reduce the risk of worsening and deaths and the cost of treatments.

It will benefit the entire local population, now around 16000 people, and can extend the service to neighboring municipalities with the same need through the formation of a consortium to defray the professional and other expenses necessary for the full operation of the equipment.

The schedule, after finding partners and having the project approved by The Rotary Foundation, is as follows:

1 Acquisition of Equipment and materials - 90 days

2 Adequacy of the site for installation and operation of the project - 150 days

3 Installation and Adjustments of Ultrasound Equipment - 30 days

4 Training of professionals participating in the project - 30 days

5 Installation of the project in operation - 180 days
