Breast cancer is one of the most important problems that threaten women's health. There is an increased risk of breast cancer in one of every 9 women. When diagnosed early, it could be treated. After cardiovascular diseases, cancer is second cause of death both men and women in Nepal. The most common cancer type is breast cancer.

Rotary Club of Branchburg, Queens New York and Rotary club of Maharjung, Nepal, plans to carry out this special project in Nepal.

The beneficiaries of the project: Women aged 35-50 who live in the rural areas (villages, towns, districts and neighborhoods away from the city center), low-income who are unable to go to the hospital on their own and who has lower level of awareness of cancer.

Goal of the project: There is not any mammography device in rural areas. Approximately 400,000 free breast screening to women who live those areas targeted by the project, and those who are at risk will be directed to the nearest public hospitals with these mobile units. Addition to this, in order to raise awareness of this issue among the women, vehicle will be parked in some areas such as large fairs, concerts, huge organizations to make free tests and distribute information leaflets about the breast cancer.

The functioning of the project: The project will be conducted by Rotary club of Maharajgunj in collaboration with several local hospitals.

Rotary International logo and names of clubs and other organizations who donate money will be written to promote awareness.
