Project Description Region: South America Country: Brazil Location: Araxá Total Budget: $30,010 Area of Focus: Disease prevention and treatment The Surgical Center is a special area inside the hospital, where interventions surgical, aiming to fulfill the resolution of surgical complications, through the action of an integrated team. The main goal of Surgery is to meet, to the best of way possible, the patient will undergo a surgical procedure, be it urgent or emergency, elective, allowing surgical staff all conditions of the patient and the certainty of a secure service-"a chance to life". The objective is to increase the number of surgeries performed for the Unified Health System. Two hundred and twenty two (224) surgeries were carried out in the period from January to September/2016 and from the adaptation and installation of the new equipment, to increase to 300 surgeries / month. This goal will be achieving with the implementation of new equipment and the improvement of working conditions. With the accomplishment of the scheduled surgeries, beginning of oncological surgeries, being able to resume the process of organ harvesting for transplants.
