Project Description

Region: South America

Country: Brazil

Location: Santa Fé do Sul

Total Budget: $30,350

Area of Focus: Basic education and literacy

Equipping these APAEs with Multissensorial Snoezelen spaces, which is the object of this project, makes it possible to broaden the treatment methodologies to people with specific disabilities and also keep and expand the existing covenants to attend its residents. Also, other cities from nearby states (such as Minas Gerais and Goias) will be able to convene with these APAEs to attend their citizens. The possibility of new covenants and the expansion of the existing ones will make the maintenance of the Snoezelen space possible. To develop the Snoezelen practice, it is necessary to install a properly adaptated and structured room with specific equipments to a treatment of this kind. Including the capacitation of health professionals, such as: ● Physical therapists: to actuate on motor, muscle, orthopedic aspects and on patients with acquired and permanent injuries. ● Psychologists: to actuate on emotional, affective and behavioral aspects. ● Occupational therapists: to actuate on manual abilities, body mechanics, daily and practical life activities. ● Speech therapist: to actuate on expressing and receiving aspects of communication. ● Pedagogue: to actuate on learning attention deficit, hyperactivity, focusing on the concept of experiencing.
