Project Description Region: South America Country: Brazil Location: Presidente Prudente - SP Total Budget: $48,581 Area of Focus: Basic education and literacy This project aims to develop emotional intelligence in poor children of Presidente Prudente-SP-Brazil (abaout 151 students). Several studies show that emotional intelligence is more important than analytical intelligence in terms of the degree of success achieved in personal and professional life. The children who will benefit from the project are extremely poor and have a history of physical, emotional and sexual aggression. Through the resources obtained in the project, the philanthropic entity "Lar Santa Filomena" (Santa Filomena Home) will develop a program of training of educators, who will be able to teach the social emotional skills for the students, who will have access to textbooks and virtual environment of learning. The project funds will be used for the acquisition of said program ($ 7.806,27), as well as for the acquisition of a vehicle ($ 40.775,46) that may allow the transportation of part of the students who can not afford to travel to the institution. Our Rotary club will be committed to establishing the educational program as well as verifying the acquisition of the vehicle. The vehicle will be maintained by the entity (Lar Santa Filomena), which will bear all its costs, such as driver and taxes.
