The project is designed to acquire a Brest Cancer detection mobile medical unit to be used in the Tijuana, Tecate and Rosarito Baja California, Mexico Region. The estimated costo if the unit is $95,000.00, This includes the complete motorized unit.
This project is focused on the detection and potential treatment of Breast cancer in underprivileged areas of Tijuana, Tecate & Rosarito, Baja California. There are a significant increase in cases of breast cancer in the Baja California area over the past two years. Many are detected too late for treatment.
This project is in conjunction with Proyecto de Vida Esperanza to be able to sustain the unit. Proyecto de Vida Esperanza will have the medical support for the unit on-going, as well as the supplies to run tests and studies. This unit is being donated in Kind from the Tijuana Rotary Club (estimated at a $10K value), currently at the California's Childrens Hospital Center in Tijuana, it will be housed there and fit up with the required equipment for breast cancer screening.
This project needs to receive some pledges to go to the next level. Please check the "Financing" tab to see the list of current pledges. Once the amount pledged is equal to the project budget, the status of the project will be automatically changed to "Fully Pledged". Click here to pledge support for this project.
Note: as of July 1, 2015 there is a 5% additional support fee for cash contributions. This fee does not appear in the financials above because it does not apply if the funds are sent directly to the project account (without going through TRF, and therefore without Paul Harris credit). Clubs sending their cash contribution to TRF must be aware they will have to send an additional 5%.
