The project is designed to acquire a Brest Cancer detection mobile medical unit to be used in the Tijuana, Tecate and Rosarito Baja California, Mexico Region. The estimated costo if the unit is $52,000.00, This includes the complete motorized unit.
This project is focused on the detection and potential treatment of Breast cancer in underprivileged areas of Tijuana, Tecate & Rosarito, Baja California. There are a significant increase in cases of breast cancer in the Baja California area over the past two years. Many are detected too late for treatment.
This project is in conjunction with Proyecto de Vida Esperanza to be able to sustain the unit. Proyecto de Vida Esperanza will have the medical support for the unit on-going, as well as the supplies to run tests and studies. This unit is being donated in Kind from the Tijuana Rotary Club (estimated at a $10K value), currently at the California's Childrens Hospital Center in Tijuana, it will be housed there and fit up with the required equipment for breast cancer screening.
