Project Description Region: South-East Asia Country: India Location: Shamli Total Budget: $30,130 Areas of Focus: Peacebuilding and conflict prevention, Disease prevention and treatment, Water, sanitation and hygiene We are from a small District of North India. We have near about 1.6 million population in our district, in which most of the people live a lower middle class life. In our area kidney impaired patients have to travel more than 70-80 miles to get dialysis facility. Normally kidney patients have to go under dialysis procedure 2 to 3 times in a week. our survey shows that,in and around Shamli there are many rural areas like Kairana,Khandhla,Unn,ThanaBhawan,Lakh and many more areas in our revenue district do not have any dialysis facility.Around 150 to 160 patients have to travel metropolitan cities to get the dialysis. It is not only the patients who go under the inconvenience to go to larger town to get this facility but the whole family is jeopardized because of this disease. Rotary Club Shamli has taken decision to establish this centre through Ganga Amrit Charitable Trust which is running a hospital in Shamli with sufficient infrastructure. The trust intends to run the dialysis facility on a No Profit-No Loss basis or on a subsidized cost basis depending on the donations from philanthropist.
