This project has to do with a Ph.D. research in the area of Water and Sanitation. There is the need to Support programs that enhance communities' awareness of the benefits of safe water, sanitation and hygiene, to Support studies for a career-minded professional related to water and sanitation. It is a Doctorate Degree research that will consolidate Water and Sanitation, Health Implication and Ecological study.

The objectives of the Scholarship is equip the Scholar with the expertise to carry out the following;

1.To identify heavy metals impacted water bodies and determine if the level of heavy metal pollution is above World Standards

2.To identify intrusion of the heavy metals into surrounding water bodies and study seepage into ground water system.

3.To elucidate the significance of this pollution, ascertain the possibilities of these heavy metals getting to Man through direct water consumption and food chain and identify certain ailments that must have emanated as a result.

4.To determine the level of heavy metals accumulated in aquatic organisms such as algae and aquatic macrophytes and thereafter, using this information to analyze ecology effect of these heavy metal pollutions.

5.To study the amount of ecosystem damage and ecological disaster that has been contributed by this pollution.

6. To proffer solutions towards better environmental management practices to boost availability of safer drinking water

Ubulu Uku as a community, Delta State and Federal Governments will also benefit from the knowledge and expertise of the scholar through advocacy and cultivation of good environmental sanitation practices that enhance safe and quality water supply through.

The PhD. Program is expected to span from 25/07/2018 to 30/07/2022

The funds will be used to cover Tuition, Housing, Books and Food, International and Local Travle
