Project Description

Region: South America

Country: Brazil

Location: Jundiai

Total Budget: $43,750

Area of Focus: Disease prevention and treatment

I would like to introduce myself, my name is Alexandre, I am from RC Jundiai Serra do Japy, District 4590. We are located at Jundiai city, approximately 50 km from São Paulo city.

Our club is very active in Global Grants, we are only 8 years old, and we did a good number of GG, here in Brasil and outside. Please verify the list of our GG attached.

Now we have a new project called " Give to the deaf a normal life "

Summary:

The main objective of this project is to supply for a poor deaf, without financial resources, the condition to be an usefull citizen with rights and obligation and introduction themselves in social life. For this we are going to pay their deafness treatment . This treatment is composed of the follow therapies action, like:

- Audiologic Evaluation

- Selection and verification of hearing aid

- Free Field audiometric tests

- Logaudiometric testes

- Auricular modeling

- Hearing aid delivery ( instalation and basic instructions)

- Periodic evaluation

With the treatment, like described above, we are going to give a correct treatment for deafness persons. This action will

transform the hearing impaired person in a useful person.

The hearing impaired person, mainly from poor families without financial resources and knowledge, most of them live and grow without any kind of treatment. The impaired hearing person lives excluded from social life, usually without study,

illiterate, no job, no professional, no family, etc.

The community needs for deaf treatment is big. The brazilian public heath system called SUS proposes to pay

this treatment, but is doesn't have financial condition to do it fast. Today only in Jundiaí we have a waiting

line for this treatment with more than 3.000 deaf persons. This wait could be years long. the objective of this

project it to assist between 60 to 70 persons with this needs.

Please feel free to contact me if you need more info about the project.

How Rotary is an international institution I am very ansious to waiting your response.
