Summary: Provide dictionaries to over 700 3rd graders in Kingman, AZ and surrounding areas.
The Kingman Unified School District identified the need for resources for reading and writing proficiency in our area. Our club (Kingman Route 66 Rotary Club) has been providing dictionaries to 3rd graders in the Greater Kingman area schools as a result of this identified need. Our delivery area is the greater Kingman area schools as well as schools on the Hualapai Indian reservation as well to several small school districts in rural Mohave County and we plan to donate over 700 dictionaries this coming school year. Our club has been doing the Dictionary Project for approximately 18 years and we would like to continue this program as there remains a need for improved reading and writing proficiencies. We purchase the "dictionaries" through "The Dictionary Project", put "4-Way Test" bookmarks in each as well as place a Rotary sticker on each. We also note that these "dictionaries" are a gift from the Kingman Route 66 Rotary Club. Our club members go into the schools and personally present the "dictionaries". The Dictionary Project compliments our Rotary Reader program we have with several elementary schools. The Dictionary Project is typically completed during the beginning (first semester) of the school year. We will work to do a press release once the dictionaries have been deployed. We also put pictures on our website and Facebook page.
Fully Pledged
This project is "Fully Pledged". This means the amount of the pledges is equal to the total budget of the project. Now the project needs to be finalized and go through the club signature process. This process gets started on the administration page.
