Title 1 school with students from low income families who are unable to afford basic school supplies. Child health and obesity is at a all time high in the Southeast San Diego community due to limited access to fresh, healthy food and lack of education on healthy meal planning on a limited income. We participate in Healthy Kids Day, to show kids & parents how to make healthy snacks, provide healthy snacks and new reading books for the kids, more than 2,000 kids attend the event. We partner with the Elementary Institute of Science (EIS) to fund scholarships for low-income students to attend the after-school STEM program that teaches science, technology, engineering & math.
Club members are involved in all projects doing from buying, packing and delivering school supplies, working with the kids during Healthy Kids Day and volunteering at EIS to help with STEM projects.
