Community Development: Volunteer Services
Summary: Rotarians will help build a home for a needy family in the very poor area of East Tijuana, Mexico
The primary goal of Project Mercy, a non-profit San Diego agency, is to help improve the basic living standards and quality of life for destitute families in the colonias east of Tijuana, Mexico. Recognizing the extreme need to alleviate the health hazards incurred by poor makeshift housing, they have organized a means, with the financial and hands-on help of organizations like Rotary, to address this basic need by building homes for designated, needy families.
The Rotary Club of Fallbrook and the Fallbrook Village Rotary Club would like to support and help build a home on October 16. We have proudly participated in this endeavor for several years and the moment we complete the home and hand over the keys to a very grateful family, we reiterate our commitment and enthusiasm to do it again.
The total cost of the building material, and a outhouse is $7,000.
The Rotary Club of Fallbrook has pledged $2,500 and the Fallbrook Village Rotary Club has pledged $1,000. We respectfully ask the District for DDDF funds of $3,500 to complete the project.
This is an opportunity for fellow Rotarians, future Rotarians, families of all sizes and ages to come together for one day and truly live the motto of "Service Above Self".
This project is "Paid". This means that the funds from the district have been issued. This project is now being ready for implementation. When this is done, a report needs to be uploaded on the project page and the "Reported" button needs to be clicked, then the status of the project will be changed to "Reported".
