Summary: Funding to support health and wellness programs in Northern Haiti offered by Hands Up For Haiti, a volunteer medical program served by medical professionals from District 7230.
We propose a district-wide fundraiser in conjunction with Rotary Club of Cap-Haitien (Northern Haiti) to fund the works of "Hands Up for Haiti" ("HUFH") who recently celebrated its 10th anniversary of providing lifesaving healthcare, potable water and other wellness programs for impoverished people of Northern Haiti on a volunteer basis. Given the fact that all medical volunteers are from District 7230 and in-person events are difficult to undertake at this particular moment, we believed that virtual fundraising event with presentations by the founder and executive director of HUFH would be the best and the most feasible way of garnering member contributions within the District and then matching funds through RI. We plan on inviting all club presidents within Distict 7230 to participate in one of several Zoom presentations by HUFH together with any other members that wish to participate. We have placed an advertisement in District Newsletter with more material and plan on conducting Zoom meetings later this month. We will call/email each club president with the hope of strong participation. Since HUFH has been operating for 10 years now, this affords clubs within District 7230 the ability to particpate remotely, safely and menaingfully while being assured this accomplished Not-for-Profit knows exactly how to efficiently utilize the funds. We do not have a specific timeline, as this is the first event we have proposed district-wide, but hope to do all fundraising within 2020. It is our hope that after the COVID crisis allows for more more socialization, Mount Kisco would host an in-person event for the District where an update on how the funds were being utilized and hopefully have representatives from both HUFH and the Cap-Haitien Rotary Club participate. Because I am unclear as to the proper answers to the questions below regarding budget, I will address them here. We plan on having Mount Kisco Rotary Club contribute $5,000 with the balance of the District and/or Clubs within the District contributing $45,000. With matching funds, we hope to reach a total contribution level of $100,000
