Summary: The gift of school supplies and backpacks will give families in need a hand up as they prepare for goping back to school
The gift of school supplies and backpacks gives at-risk families a hand up as they prepare for going back to school. For additional information, the website is dentonbacktoschool.org. It is a community wide collaborative project which combines the efforts of many non-profit, civic and community organizations. It was started by Interfaith Ministries in Denton with the help of our Rotary Club many years ago. It currently includes a Health Fair that provides health screenings, eye exams and free on-the-spot eyeglasses, hearing tests, etc. This project assists the most economically vulnerable children in our community. The project for back to school this year has been funded with backpacks and supplies distributed this month. The requested funds would be used in May or June of 2021 to fund that year's project. With COVID-19, help for families and children is a bigger need and crisis than ever before. With the help of Rotary, we can help many children who desperately need it.
