Project Description Country: USA Location: New Mexico Total Budget: $2,000 Area of Focus: Water, sanitation and hygiene Activity Type: Water: Supply/Access Summary: Provide funds for waterwell digs and installation of running water and lights in Navajo family homes Rotary International supports numerous well water projects. We here in the USA have 1 in 3 Navajo families that do not have adequate access and amounts of water to help the families with clean water for cooking and proper sanitation, particularly during the pandemic we are experiencing now. DIGDEEP works with the indigenous community led "Navajo Water Project" providing water systems for the Navajo community. Primary water wells are drilled for a community and individual family homes are then fitted with a 1200 gallon well reservoir that is then plumbed to the house to provide hot and cold waterflow for bathing, cooking and other personal care. Each plumbed house cost an average of 4500.00 to install and can be done in a 24 hour time frame. Because of the current COVID19 pandemic and the permissions required to access the Navajo properties, we are looking to partner with DIGDEEP, the nonprofit organization for "The Navajo Water Project", for providing funding to support the activities of supplying a system to a family home.
