The Imperial County is located in the South East corner of California, bordering with Arizona and Mexico. The area is rich is agriculture. However, 1 in 3 children in Imperial County have food insecurity. Before COVID, the usual unemployment rates was 24% or higher. The need to support the Imperial Valley Food Bank is greater than ever, since more families depend of the food they get to provide for their family.
The Imperial Valley Food Bank estimates that it costs $10 per day to feed a family of 4, or $300 per month, or $3600 a year.
