Project Description Country: USA Location: Carlsbad, CA Total Budget: $1,750 Area of Focus: Basic education and literacy Activity Type: Education: Scholarship Summary: Selected Mentees in the MANA de North County programs at Carlsbad High & Sage Creek High will receive college scholarships The non-profit organization MANA de North County San Diego offers a nationally-recognized "Hermanitas Mentoring Program" to Latina teens in north county schools. Specifically, the seniors enrolled in this mentoring program offered at Carlsbad H.S. and Sage Creek H.S. will all be applying for admission to college and all will be attending college, as first-generation college students (with the exception of one). In the spring, they will be offered the opportunity to apply for a scholarship from MANA and MANA will use funds from Rotary to provide the scholarships. The amount of the scholarships will vary according to the cost of the university they plan to attend.
