Summary: The Road to College program tutors and grooms economically disadvantaged kids for entry into college.
The Road to College program was developed to reach economically disadvantaged students early in their education (8-12 gr) encouraging the student and and their parents to prepare for college. While the program is in force during the entire academic year , the "summer boot camp held on the Midwestern State University serves over 100 students and creates a culture of high expectations and provides instruction in reading , math, writing, speech, and social skills . Last year All seniors who participated in the Road program were accepted into a college. The program will take place in June 2021 at Midwestern State U. (summer boot camp). The total budget from all sources is expected to be $55,000. The estimated contribution from SW Rotary Club is $7500 which comes from club donation as well as revenue sharing from RTC students helping with our flag project. We are requesting a $2500 District Grant to help fund the RTC summer Boot Camp. This will be our Rotary clubs fifth year to participate in this important program.
