The Well Path, a 501c3 organization, is driven by a single goal; to reduce recidivism back into a life of exploitation. They strive to equip survivors of human trafficking and sexual exploitation through peer support groups and coercion resiliency based diversion programs, which build productive relationships that make a positive impact in the lives of our participants. They offer emergency exit strategies and resources to leave a life of exploitation and promote financial and educational opportunities in order to provide avenues to higher education and greater stability for the future.
The grant money from the Del Mar Solana Beach Rotary will be used to provide groceries and emergency shelter through our partner hotels for our emergency clients. The average cost for shelter per night is $55-$90 depending on the time of year and location. We spend $50 on groceries for one week for each client we shelter. We spend $100 on groceries each week if they have children with them. We shelter each client up to 7 nights and get them to their next healthy step. During COVID-19 however, we have had to house them longer due to the lack of programs accepting new clients during this time. The goal is to eventually get the women into permanent housing. In addition to providing the funds for temporary housing and food, the Club members will be volunteers for The Well Path. The women will be housed in motels and hotels in the Escondido area.
