This grant will be used for both an "Angels in Action" wellness package to be handed out to cancer patients and for extra branded logo socks to be used as a fundraising item. We anticipate to commence the project in August 2020- May 2021.
Newport Beach Sunrise Rotary will join forces with Non-Profit Cancer Kinship to help empower cancer patients to confidently face the disease emotionally, including warmth and comfort through our wellness packages. The packages will include a personalized note, branded logo sock, custom logo tote, angel pin and added informational brochures. Our focus is to effectively ensure patient well being with our contributions.
With our involvement we will raise awareness and engage the community with Cancer Kinship's ongoing 40+ partner agencies and programs in place, including their signature fundraising event "Celebrate Life!". We will partner for a greater impact to aid in the comfort of those who are vulnerable and in need with our "Angel In Action" packs. We aim to accompany the founder of CK, Yoli Origel, and visit other Rotary Clubs to gain additional support from others to get involved in CK's efforts.
Katie Ogden and potentially other club members will be participating through a "Cancer Connections" training as a designated Peer Mentor. She will commit and represent NBSR and be paired with newly diagnosed cancer patients as she is a survivor mentor for one-on-one emotional and psychosocial support.
We will also be participating in the "Rotary Safe Youth Safety Project" already in place.
