REACH Community Development Corporation seeks $10,000 in funding support to provide community outreach, a rapid testing site, and food distribution center to increase the City of Chicago's efforts to thwart the spread of the virus across the most vulnerable populations residing in Roseland, Morgan Park, Auburn-Gresham, Englewood and West Englewood. Throughout its history, REACH has engaged individuals and families from under-served communities and has developed key strategies and activities to provide critical needs and safety support. The agency and its collaborating network of partners are committed to spending as much time and energy as possible pursuing endeavors that will assist in building up awareness about the importance of social distancing, providing nutritious meals to seniors and low-income households, as well as assisting in the City's efforts to reduce the number of cases and obtain care for those affected families.
REACH will use the funds to provide the following activities:
-- Mobilize the applicant's networks to help provide households with PPE
-- Highlight specific benefits/resources to ensure people have food/shelter supports
-- Provide multiple physical spaces in the parking lot of our facility to be equipped to provide drive-
up testing, dissemination of care packages, and mental health tips
