Project Description Country: USA Location: Bolingbrook Total Budget: $2,500 Area of Focus: Basic education and literacy Activity Type: Education: Literacy Summary: The Club will deliver a dictionary to every 3rd grader in the Bolingbrook community - both public and private schools. According to The Dictionary Project, Educators see third grade as the dividing line between learning to read and reading to learn, so we want to give each third grader this important tool. A dictionary is an essential tool for a quality education and that a student cannot do his or her best work without one. We will be delivering the dictionaries to every 3rd grader in Bolingbrook (approximately 725 students) during the middle of October. We usually have 20-25 Rotarian participate in this project and partner with our local Interact club, adding an additional 15-20 Interact participants. The project funds will help pay for the dictionaries ($3 per dictionary) as well as the Rotary stickers with the 4 way test that gets posted in on the front page of each dictionary.
