History Logs

Project Description

Country: USA

Location: Ontario, OR

Total Budget: $1,350

Area of Focus: Basic education and literacy

Activity Type: Education: Literacy

Summary: 465 Dictionaries to be distributed to Third Graders in the Western Treasure Valley in the 2020/2021 Fiscal Year

ccording to Dictionary Project Educators third grade is seen as the dividing line between learning to read and reading to learn. WTV Rotary wants to give third graders dictionaries; an essential tool to assist students in receiving a quality education.

We anticipate we will be working with 12 schools in the WTV representing 25 classrooms and approximately 465 third grade students. The project funds will pay for the dictionaries and the Rotary 4 Way Test bookplates posted on the first page of each dictionary.

For the 2020-2021 school year the Club will once again work with school administration to determine the best delivery method for each individual school.

In addition to the" A Students Dictionary" we will also be distributing the "Webster's Spanish/English Dictionary" for each classroom's shared resource library.

For a $1,350 project, you may request $1,137 in DDF, with the club putting in only $213. Don't you want to change your financing to maximize the grant award?
