Area of Focus: Peacebuilding and conflict prevention

Activity Type: Peace: General

Summary: Building Peace Builder Clubs in Russia and placing peace poles

2020 marks the 75th anniversary year of the end of WWII hostilities in Russia. The concept of Peace Builder clubs is almost unknown amongst clubs in Russia. Clubs will be encouraged to establish peace builder clubs and take advantage of an offer

to support the placing of peace poles in their area. The funds will be supported by an offer from the Jubitz Foundation for up to 100 peace poles who has pledged $100 per pole for a total of $10,000. The Moscow-East Rotary Club has agreed to serve as the local coordinating club. To receive funds, the local clubs--67 across the largest Rotary District in the world-Russia, will have to pay for one peace pole, and agree to consider becoming a peace builder club.
