Project Description

Country: USA

Location: Bonsall

Total Budget: $300

Areas of Focus: Disease prevention and treatment, Maternal and child health

Activity Type: Health: Disease

Summary: High school student makes face masks for local nurses.

Local nurses have asked for surgical type face masks to use in a COVID-19 work environment. Ideal protective equipment includes wearing a standard N-95 mask covered by a surgical mask. That way the outer mask may be changed on leaving an infected area, without affecting the more expensive Ni-95 mask that can be worn for an entire shirt. The outer mask may be made of any type of cloth or mask paper. The effort has been taken on by a local high school student, Oliver Reinard. He has orders for over 200 washable masks. His effort is sewing a standard Pinterest mask pattern with ear loops. Funding is needed for materials: cloth, thread, and elastic.

Today I received receipts from the student conducting the project. They are for materials purchased for the surgical face masks he produced. I've attempted to add them to the Documents page as a PDF. So far they haven't appeared.
