Project Description Country: USA Location: Whitefish, Montana Total Budget: $8,700 Area of Focus: Community economic development Activity Type: Community Development: Disaster Recovery Summary: The Rotary Club of Whitefish will raise money to help Whitefish, Montana, USA families in need purchase groceries. Given the Covid-19 crisis and soaring unemployment rates, the Rotary Club of Whitefish proposes to help area families in need purchase food, diapers, paper supplies and cleaning products through the use of gift cards (alcohol, tobacco, lottery tickets prohibited). Families in need were recently identified and vetted through the schools and food bank, all in a confidential manner. The club will raise a combination of money through this matching grant and during a special community fundraiser on May 5 (money available by May 18). Club members will actively participate in the May 5 fundraising event and distribute the gift cards. Any monies remaining will be donated to area food banks. Addendum to Project Description (added after the project was signed) Hi Brian: On behalf of the Rotary Club of Whitefish I have submitted two projects for consideration regarding District Grants FY 20/21. Our club must prioritize the two I am advised. So, which of my two children, er projects, do I love more? * P3185 Nepal Scholarships, is our first priority. * P3245 Groceries for needy families is our second priority.
