Project Description

Country: USA

Location: Vista

Total Budget: $491

Area of Focus: Water, sanitation and hygiene

Activity Type: Health: General

Summary: Three portable sanitation stations provided to Brother Benno's for May 2020

Brother Benno's Soup Kitchen in Oceanside provides food and clothing for homeless individuals and families. Ordinarily they serve over 200 hot breakfasts per day, six days a week, as well as over 2200 food boxes per month. The Tri-City Rotary Club supports Brother Benno's by staffing their breakfast service on the fourth Tuesday morning of each month.

Because of the COVID-19 situation, Brother Benno's is not currently offering morning breakfast service. This makes their food box distribution, which has been expanded, all the more important. Sanitation among the homeless population is a major concern in preventing further COVID-19 cases and to address this situation, Brother Benno's has rented three portable sanitation stations for the month of April, which they are placing outside their facility in Oceanside for client use. They are certain they will need these sanitation stations for the month of May as well, but they do not have funds currently budgeted for this purpose.

Through this grant the Tri-City Rotary Club will fund the rental of these sanitation stations for the month of May. The total cost of the rental is $490.43. This support will be critical in ensuring the health and safety of Brother Benno's clients, staff and volunteers, as well as the entire North County community.

PLEASE NOTE: The Tri-City Rotary Club recently changed its name from Vista Hi Noon Rotary Club. We are also in the process of merging with the Rotary Club of Vista (effective July 1, 2020) and therefore we did not change the name on our checking account to Tri-City (since it would be only for a very short time). We are currently banking under our previous name, Vista Hi Noon. Therefore, the check needs to be made out to Vista Hi Noon Rotary Club. We appreciate your understanding.
