We have an incredibly active Interact Club in Kemmerer, Wyoming! These students have done amazing projects in the year and a half since we started this Club. Now these service oriented students want to give back to the younger students in our community by taking the time to read to kids at our local Kemmerer Child Development Center (KCDC). KCDC serves just over 90 students, many of whom are low income, under privileged, and/or students who require early intervention services. The Interact Club plans to pick out and read books to the KCDC preschool students and then gift the books to the children. After the event, each KCDC student will have a book at home that someone has read to them. One they can continue to enjoy. In organizing and facilitating this Book Night, the Interact group is hoping to teach kids about community service and working together to help these young students grow. The Interact Club plans on buying 90 books, one for each of the KCDC students. The Club will work with KCDC and HRC, and the Oyster Ridge BOCES to provide dinner for the preschool students and their families during Book Night. The Oyster Ridge BOCES will offer a parenting class at this same event to entertain the parents while the Interact students read to the KCDC students.
