Summary: Present pedestrian/school safety program to local school children in engaging and impactful program.
School children in our local area are vulnerable to being struck by motor vehicles while traveling to and from school. Our project involves working cooperatively with local police and school administrators to educate students and the local community about keeping children safe. The project funds will be used to purchase T-Shirts for approximately 300 first graders in the Hastings and Irvington school districts. The shirts will be given to students as part of program educating students on safety when near vehicles. The shirts will also serve as a fun and visual reminder to drivers and the local community to practice safe driving and obey school safety zone speed limits. The goal is to educate students, drivers and parents to prevent pedestrian tragedies. The program will be presented early in the school year in order to have the most impact on the safety of our children.
