Coronado Rotaract has volunteered for this event in the past but not been able to fund the
equipment and resources needed to put on the event.
Each surf event requires adapted equipment to accommodate people who are physically
disabled. This includes beach/sand equipped wheelchairs, chairs, beach mats, safety
equipment and tents. We would like to be able to offer this event to disabled people who have
not been able to participate in the past and have wetsuits, life jackets and water shoes available
for them.
In previous Team Quinn volunteer days, Rotaract had volunteers in the water, and on the
beach. Both are equally important. 2-4 volunteers are needed per disabled surfer to facilitate
safety standards in the water. On the beach volunteers are needed to help surfers, dry off, get
towels, stay warm, get snacks, and communicate their desire to sit out, or jump back in the
water!
Team Quinn provides food and drinks for the volunteers and surfers, along with rash guards and
other souvenirs/ goodies to take home. There are several donors and partners that work with
Team Quinn to make these events possible, though they are primarily through in- kind
donations. Team Quinn's biggest need right now is financial support to continue to put on these
events!
