Project Description Country: USA Location: National City Total Budget: $1,000 Area of Focus: Basic education and literacy Activity Type: Education: General Summary: Suits, transportation to workshops, and field trips provided to SUHI's Mariachi Nuevo Aguadulce Band. Sweetwater High School's Mariachi Nuevo Aguadulce recently performed on the Fox 5 San Diego Morning Show. The same week, they attended Mariachi Workshops at USD and learned from some of the best mariachi musicians in the industry. On Sunday, March 11th, 2018, they participated in the Mariachi Festival & Competition at Pepper Park, in National City and won third place! SuHi's Beginning and Intermediate Mariachi, Mariachi Nuevo Aguadulce and Mariachi Continental de San Diego perform and raise awareness to the Mexican culture. The kids volunteer at Rotary fundraisers and are in need of suits, transportation to workshops, and field trips. In addition, the Visual and Performing Arts will benefit.
