Project Description Country: USA Location: San Diego, CA Total Budget: $2,800 Area of Focus: Peacebuilding and conflict prevention Activity Type: RI Youth Programs (Youth Exchange, RYLA, Rotaract, Interact) Summary: Send students to youth leadership programs (LEAD and RYLA) These funds will be used to send students to district leadership events, focused on servant leadership and spreading Rotary's mission of "service above self" to the next generation. Send 6 students to LEAD (Leadership, Ethics, Aspirations, and Determination) leadership camp for 8th graders in October 2019. LEAD is focused on preparing student leaders to continue their leadership into high school, set and achieve goals, make decisions based on their personal ethics, and create an inclusive community. 6 students = $1500 Send 4 students to RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards) leadership camp for 11th graders in April 2020. RYLA is focused on taking leaders and helping them become servant leaders and how they can use their leadership skills to not only achieve their own goals, but help others as well. 4 students = $1300 Our club members will be involved in selecting the students to participate in these programs and follow up with them to keep them engaged with the Rotary spirit after the events.
